Clark State College will hold a series of workshops to assist current and future students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA is the key to funding a college education and helping families to overcome financial barriers that otherwise prevent students from attending the institution of their choice. The FAFSA is a form completed by current and prospective college students in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid.

“The FAFSA workshops are great for students and families who are unsure of the process of completing a FAFSA,” said Dr. Travis Binkley, dean of enrollment services at Clark State. “Vast improvements have been made to the process over the years to simplify the process, but it can still be overwhelming.”

Binkley said the Clark State financial aid team is proud to offer these workshops during Financial Aid Awareness month to help support the community.

“Students and families should also remember many scholarships require students to have a FAFSA on file,” he said. “For this reason and many more, every student intending on to pursue higher education should submit a FAFSA.”

The Clark State Foundation scholarship application for summer semester is open from March 1 through March 31 and for fall semester from May 1 through June 15.

“We encourage all students to file a FAFSA and apply for scholarships,” said Binkley.

Students attending the FAFSA workshops should be prepared with income and tax information for themselves and their parents if applicable.
