State Representative Brian Stewart has introduced a bill to honor the late Pickaway County Sheriff's Deputy Rex Emrick. The proposed legislation seeks to designate a section of State Route 56 in Pickaway County as the "Detective Rex Emrick Memorial Highway."
"Detective Emrick was a strong leader and faithful public servant in our community," said Stewart. "Renaming this road in his honor is just a small way to pay tribute to his legacy of service."
Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey remarked, "Detective Rex Emrick was not only a well-respected member of the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office but a very loved member of our community. The naming of the roadway in his honor will help his memory and legacy live on forever."
Detective Emrick served with the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office and was involved with several organizations, including Pickaway Lodge #23 F & AM, Provost Unit of Aladdin Shrine, Pickaway Shrine, Scottish Rite, and Sons of American Revolution.
The bill is currently awaiting assignment of a number and committee for further consideration.
