The Ohio House of Representatives passed Substitute House Bill 2 today, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout Ohio. State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Ashville) announced that the Capital Budget will make significant investments in local community projects.
Stewart secured several capital investments for Madison County and the surrounding region, including $600,000 to renovate the Tolles Cybersecurity Lab, $401,250 to complete phase one of the Depot at Public Square park project in Plain City, and $35,938 to improve the Madison County Airport.
“I am very pleased to have been able to successfully fight for Madison County’s local projects at the Statehouse,” said Stewart. “These projects will make positive changes in our community for years to come.”
In addition to these local investments, Substitute House Bill 2 includes statewide capital investments such as $600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund, $400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program, and $397.6 million for higher education projects across Ohio.
The bill now awaits a signature from the Governor.
