All Union County law enforcement agencies, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Memorial Hospital, the Union County Drug Free Coalition, and other local agencies are sponsoring a prescription drug “Take-Back” event on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at four locations:

• Union County Sheriff’s Office, 221 W. 5th St., Marysville,

• Pleasant Valley Fire Department, 650 W. Main St., Plain City,

• Richwood Police Department, 153 N. Franklin St., Richwood, and

• Marysville Police Division at Walmart, 555 Colemans Crossing Blvd., Marysville.

The public is encouraged to turn in potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescriptions at this free event. Pills, patches, and other solid prescriptions will be accepted. Liquids, needles, sharps, or over-the-counter medications will not be accepted. Vape pens and e-cigarette devices will be collected only if the batteries are removed.

The take-back process is anonymous, and no questions will be asked. Organizers suggest to remove/mark out any personal information on the prescription packaging prior to turning it in. The focus of this event is household items and as such, pharmaceutical waste from professional healthcare facilities or businesses will not be accepted.

Area residents may also use the permanent prescription drop-off boxes provided by the Union County Sheriff’s Office in the Union County Justice Center, at the Marysville Division of Police, at the Plain City Police Department, and at the Richwood Police Department. For additional information, contact Deputy Rich Crabtree at (937) 645-4100 ext. 4310 or at rcrabtree@unioncountyohio.gov or Captain Nate Sachs at (937) 645-7309 or at nsachs@marysvilleohio.org.
