The Malone University men's lacrosse team came back home this Wednesday hoping to bounce back after the loss to No. 15 Frostburg State.

The Pioneers welcomed Mount Vernon Nazarene University to town for a non-conference game.

Mount Vernon got on the scoreboard first, but that was the only time they led as the Pioneer men cruised to a 15-11 victory over a previously unbeaten Cougar team.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Final Score: Malone University Pioneers 15 - Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars 11
  • Records: Malone (5-2, 0-0 G-MAC) | Mount Vernon (7-1, 0-0 ECC)

THE GAME

The Cougars jumped out with a quick lead, scoring within the first two minutes, but then Malone answered back with four goals of their own.

Malone kept finding the back of the net late in the 1st making it a 6-2 Malone lead at the end of the first 15 minutes.

Malone didn't let off the gas, scoring five more goals while not conceding any in the 2nd quarter making the score 11-2 at the half.

Mount Vernon needed a miracle in order to get back in this game, so they turned it up a bit outscoring Malone 3-2 in the 3rd to make the score 13-5 after three.

Mount Vernon's come back attempt wasn't over yet, putting up the most points in the 4th quarter. The Cougars came up just short, scoring three within the last two minutes while also outscoring the Pioneers 6-2 in the fourth.

In the end the Pioneers held off the undefeated Cougars to go 5-2 on the season with a 15-11 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
