Lisa Kearns, MD, MS, joins Memorial Internal Medicine and Karen S. Smith, PA-C, joins Memorial Ear, Nose & Throat

Memorial Health has announced Lisa Kearns, MD, MS, is now treating patients at the Memorial Internal Medicine practice. New to the Memorial Ear, Nose & Throat team is Karen S. Smith, PA-C.

Dr. Kearns is covering internal medicine needs for adult patients. She enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients, connecting and empowering them to make decisions to maximize their health. She focuses her lenses of care on helping patients remain healthy throughout their lives by providing excellent preventive health care, assisting with acute illnesses and injuries that occur from day to day, as well as managing their chronic health conditions.

Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Kearns has been practicing in Central Ohio since 2014, serving both primary care and internal medicine patients. She has earned many academic honors and professional achievements, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She completed her fellowship in Clinical Medical Ethics and MERITS at the University of Chicago and her residency in Internal Medicine at Summa Health System (Akron). Dr. Kearns graduated from Northeast Ohio Medical University and has a Master of Science from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Youngstown State University.

Dr. Kearns and her husband, Lance, have two young children. Together, the Kearns family enjoys spending time outdoors, with a love of visiting state parks.

Patients can seamlessly transition care to Dr. Kearns by calling Memorial Internal Medicine at (937) 642-1550.

As an otology and neurotology physician assistant, Karen will work with patients at Memorial Ear, Nose & Throat suffering from hearing loss (conductive, sensorineural, and sudden); vertigo, imbalance, and inner ear disorders; tinnitus; in addition to chronic ear disease. She will assist with cerumen, or ear wax removal as well.

Karen’s goal is to think outside the “otology box” on what will help the patient most with his or her care. She recognizes that the ear may be the smallest organ of the body, but it can be a source of concern if not treated properly.

Karen has been working with ENT and audiology patients for nearly 25 years. She first began during her active and National Guard duties in the US Air Force, where she performed audiograms for our noise-exposed troops.

She has her Master of Physician Assistant Studies, with an emphasis in Neurotology and her Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. In addition, she holds an Associate of Public Health from Sinclair College/Wright State University.

Karen is married to Jamie and together they have two teenagers who are active in sports. When she is outside of the practice, she loves to spend family time together and enjoys scrapbooking each precious memory of life.

To schedule with Karen at Memorial Ear, Nose & Throat, call (937) 578-4300.
