The latest episode of “Chieftain Roll Call” spotlights the Bellefontaine High School Marching Band.
Initially, the Bellefontaine High School Key Club launched the podcast in January 2022.
The newly-formed Chieftain Backers are in charge of the podcast this school year.
The weekly show focuses on BHS Athletics and student organizations.
The most recent show features Bellefontaine High School Band Director Jeremy Karg and senior band members Maggie Howard and Tierani Priest.
All three guests reflected on the band’s trip to Orlando, Florida, on December 27th-31st.
“The Pride of the Tribe” along with eight other high school bands performed at halftime in the Cheez-It Bowl on December 29th.
The nine bands combined for 615 band members.
They played “Danger Zone,” “Great Balls of Fire,” and “I Ain’t Worried” from the movies Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick.

Karg praised the band members for delivering a great performance.
Karg, Howard, and Priest said playing in a college bowl game was a memorable experience.
They also enjoyed their time at Universal Studios, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Howard and Priest started their band careers in fifth grade at BCS.
Howard was the senior drum major (field commander) this year.
Priest has been a longtime member of the color guard.
Both students said marching band competitions were their favorite activity.
Howard and Priest detailed their plans after graduation, too.
82 BHS band members made the trip to Orlando. The cost was $1,250 per student.
It’s the first time in school history that Bellefontaine has played at a college bowl game.
Traditionally, band members played in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade once every four years.
The first guests on this episode were Bellefontaine assistant football coach Rick Reed and BHS students Austin Hammond and Zach Horvath.
They previewed the NFL Playoffs, which kick off this weekend.
“Chieftain Roll Call” is hosted by Bill Tipple.
