Clark State Beavercreek Bookstore to Close Permanently as Virtual Bookstore Continues to be Student Preference

The Clark State College Greene Center (Beavercreek, Ohio) bookstore location will be permanently closing its doors on Friday, December 16th at 5 p.m., consolidating merchandise into one campus location at the Springfield Leffel Lane campus.

Doug Schantz, vice president for business affairs at Clark State, said over the last few years, the approach to textbook fulfillment has changed at Clark State.

“The pandemic was a catalyst for much of that change but the evolution of our bookstore operations was made possible by our partnership with eCampus,” he said. “Through eCampus our students at Clark State have the ability to order textbooks online and have them delivered directly to their home. This is a feature and convenience that has been fully embraced by our students the last couple of years - it has been adopted so much that the foot traffic and corresponding sales once experienced at the Greene Center bookstore has diminished exponentially.”

Schantz said in effort to promote efficiencies that reflect good stewardship of Clark State’s resources, the College is moving forward with folding the Greene Center bookstore into the Leffel Lane campus operations.

“As part of this transition, we will be moving display racks, merchandise, point-of-sale equipment, etc. to the Leffel Lane Bookstore in the coming months,” he said. “In addition, all staffing resources currently at the Greene Center Bookstore will be relocated to Leffel Lane to better serve our students in-person, via email, or phone.”

The Clark State main campus bookstore on Leffel Lane is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Textbooks and general merchandise will continue to be available for purchase on the Virtual Bookstore, shipping directly to the purchaser. The option to return rentals and sell books back to eCampus will also continue to be available 24/7 on the Virtual Bookstore site.
