Memorial Hospital Offers Nurse Residency Program

Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Feb. 10

The Clinical Education department at Memorial Hospital has announced its Nurse Residency Program designed for new graduate nurses as they transition to practice. Sometimes referred to as a nursing fellowship, the program is designed to equip the novice nurse with the tools for success related to clinical excellence, outstanding service, and teamwork, and will be offered as spring and summer cohorts in 2022.

Research has shown Nurse Residency Programs have a tremendous impact on staff satisfaction and job readiness. Over the course of 12 months, nurse residents will shift from advanced beginners to competent providers, emphasizing their development of critical thinking skills to ensure safe and high-quality patient care.

The Memorial Hospital Nurse Residency Program provides:

  • Onboarding support and direction from a dedicated nurse educator
  • Precepted experience on a nursing unit
  • 18 robust education seminars over 12 months
  • Use of high-fidelity simulation to enhance real-life scenarios
  • Professional development activities
  • Resiliency training
  • Formal training in evidence-based practice
Upon completion of the program, nurse residents will possess an increase in knowledge, comprehension, and skills necessary for safe practice.

Graduate nurses are eligible if the following requirements are met:

  • Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an associate or bachelor degree in Nursing, or a diploma in Nursing
  • 0-12 months of nursing experience
