State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) and other members of the House Veterans and Military Development Committee visited the Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Lockbourne, Ohio. The group received briefings and toured the facility to better understand its role in state and federal defense.

“The briefings and tour of the base gave us a firsthand look at the military assets vital to our state and federal defense missions,” said Richardson. “I was particularly grateful to listen & learn from the soldiers and airmen of the Ohio National Guard who honorably serve us.”

Committee members learned about the history of the National Guard, its responsibilities in Ohio, and how partnerships with the state support its mission. The Ohio National Guard consists of both Army and Air components, acting as the state’s militia. Its duties include responding to emergencies within Ohio, as well as providing combat support services such as infantry, armor, engineering, and logistics.
