State Representative Ty Moore (R-Caldwell) released a statement on Apr. 29 regarding the death of former Senator James Carnes.
Moore said he was saddened by the loss and highlighted Carnes’s service to southeast Ohio, both as a legislator and as Deputy Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The statement noted that Carnes advocated for preserving Ohio’s natural resources during his tenure.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of former Senator James Carnes. Senator Carnes not only served in the legislature, representing the people of southeast Ohio, but he also served as ODNR Deputy Director, advocating for the preservation of our great state. His legacy of compassion, dedication, and strength will forever have an impact on our community. My prayers are with his family as they process this difficult time,” Moore said.
Ohio State Representative Brian Stewart has been recognized for his military service in Iraq where he earned distinctions such as the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and two Army Commendation Medals according to the official website. Stewart is also described as an infantry veteran who represented Madison and Pickaway counties along with part of western Franklin County according to the official website.
Stewart co-chaired the first meeting of the Ohio Redistricting Commission according to information from his official profile.
