There were 913 students enrolled in Jefferson Local Schools in the 2023-24 school year, 5.7% less than the previous year, according to the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 50.7% were boys, and 49.4% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 91.3% of the Jefferson Local Schools’ total enrollment.

Jefferson Local Schools roughly covers three schools within Madison County and has a main office in West Jefferson.

Among the three schools in the school district, Norwood Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 430 students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Ohio students have not yet recovered from pandemic-related learning losses. In 2023, about 55% of students were considered proficient in math, and 60% in reading, down from 63% and 64% before the pandemic.
