State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 AARP Community Challenge grant program. The grants are intended to fund projects across the country that aim to improve community livability for people of all ages.
The application deadline is March 4, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Applications can be submitted through AARP’s website at AARP.org/CommunityChallenge. Projects must be completed by December 15, 2026. An informational virtual session will be held on January 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. ET; registration is available at https://events.aarp.org/b2Nala. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status under sections 501(c)(3), (c)(4), or (c)(6), government entities, and other organizations considered on a case-by-case basis.
“This program provides a meaningful opportunity to improve opportunities for all, including our seniors,” said Richardson. “These funds support projects that help to make our communities better places to work, live, and raise a family. I encourage local nonprofit organizations and government entities to apply.”
Past recipients in Ohio have used these grants for initiatives such as improving crosswalks and sidewalks, installing pickleball courts, developing community gardens and farmers market pavilions, and supporting home safety upgrades for older adults and veterans.
Richardson represents Ohio’s 86th House District, which includes all of Union County and parts of Marion County according to her official website. She is a West Point graduate who earned a Bronze Star Medal during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and chaired the Veterans and Military Development Committee. Her legislative work has included sponsoring laws related to access to nasal epinephrine devices in schools and serving on committees focused on children, human services, and higher education. Richardson has also volunteered with groups such as the Union County Drug Free Coalition and supported educational initiatives.
